Whether you are just starting out as a beginner blogger, or you have been blogging for years there are some things that every blogger has in common. Blogging is a creative and ever-growing platform for people to express themselves and gain a following for their website. But how does the blogging life affect you without you even noticing? Here are 5 things bloggers do without knowing.
Think of new content all the time
You need fresh content to keep your audience engaged and up to date. Content ideas are sometimes difficult to think of and sometimes they just come to you out of nowhere. Blogging doesn’t stop when you leave your computer. Inspiration and experiences are some of the best things to write about so article ideas can come at any time. Whether you bring a notebook to write down ideas or just take a mental note of a clever title, the gears are always turning and thinking about what the next prospective post may be.

Compare yourself to other bloggers
Not that you need approval from other bloggers, but it is almost impossible to read other blogs and not compare them to your own.
This makes it really easy to have blog envy. When you check out a blog that has an awesome layout or you see a post that you wish you had thought of first, there is a twinge of envy that emerges.
Negatively comparing yourself to other bloggers is probably not the best practice to keep up your self-esteem but if you constructively compare your blog to another it can be a good way to see what you can improve on and find out aesthetics and content that you are interested in.
This could be inspiration for your next post. This can also go the other way as well. Has there ever been a time when you look at another person’s blog and thought I can do better, or my blog looks cooler than that one. It happens, and as long as you are not being outwardly rude to yourself or others, comparing blogs is something that you can’t really help doing.
Overthink
This doesn’t only apply to blogging but it is something that every blogger has had to deal with, especially if you are just starting off. If you are writing content, thinking of a title, or even replying to a comment, finding the right wording can sometimes be so stressful.
Once you get going you can start to focus on the task at hand but sometimes it is hard to not overthink every step of the process. Most of the time when you just write what comes to mind it will sound better than something you thought about for a really long time.
You can edit it later no need to overthink! A lot of times people over think things because they are afraid of looking bad or saying something wrong. This fear of failing holds people back from expressing what they really think or feel about a subject matter.
Blogging is a great way to overcome this problem because you are constantly providing new content and voicing opinions. When you first start blogging over thinking can be a tough hump to get over, and you do it even when you don’t realize it.
Create a relationship with your readers
Now this is something that you should try to do, but even if you aren’t intentionally manifesting a relationship with your readers you are because of the fact that you are blogging.
The people who follow your blog consistently become interested in what you have to say and what is going on in your life. So even if you do not return the love, they build a relationship with you and take an interest in your writing.
You should reciprocate and encourage that relationship because it can help promote you to others. So responding to comments, and listening to your readers’ questions and asks is a great way to promote yourself, your blog, and your reader relationship.
Take comments personally
Whether someone is trolling your blog or even just posts an argument against your point, negative responses are no fun. When you spend a good part of your day writing a piece to share with people it is hard to not take those comments personally. But it is the internet and not everyone is going to agree with you! In fact if you write a piece that people respond to negatively at least you are producing a thought provoking piece.
More or less there is no need to take negative comments to heart but, who knows someone may bring up a point you didn’t consider and then you have material for a possible follow up piece. Just be able to decipher which comments are worth taking seriously, and then you can respond accordingly.
